Stay Safe & Roadworthy
A rego check, also known as an e-safety inspection, confirms your car is roadworthy and ready for registration. It’s a legal requirement for vehicles over a certain age, and we take the guesswork out of it with a smooth, stress-free process.
Our team inspects all the key systems, explains any issues clearly and provides the paperwork you need to complete your rego. If something’s not up to standard, we’ll walk you through the options and timeframes.
- Covers brakes, tyres, steering, lights & more
- Includes full e-safety certificate if passed
No matter what you drive, we’re here to help you stay on the road. Book your rego check today and let us take care of the details.
What is a rego check, and when do I need one?
A rego check, also known as an e-safety inspection or pink slip, is required in New South Wales for most vehicles that are five years or older. It’s a safety inspection carried out by a licensed mechanic to confirm your vehicle is roadworthy and eligible for registration renewal. The check includes brakes, tyres, steering, lights, windscreen, suspension and other key safety components. Once passed, the results are submitted electronically to Service NSW. You’ll need a valid rego check before you can renew your registration if your vehicle meets the age requirement.
What happens if my car fails a rego check?
If your vehicle doesn’t pass the rego check, you’ll be issued with a report that outlines what needs to be repaired. You’ll have 14 days to fix the problems and return to the same inspection station for a free re-check. If the repairs aren’t completed within that time frame, you’ll need to pay for a full inspection again. Common reasons for failure include worn tyres, faulty lights, oil leaks or brake issues. It’s a good idea to book your check in advance of your rego due date in case any repairs are required.
What’s the difference between a pink slip and a blue slip?
A pink slip is a standard e-safety inspection for vehicles that are already registered in NSW and need annual renewal. A blue slip, on the other hand, is a more comprehensive safety and identity check required for vehicles that are unregistered, recently imported, or being re-registered in NSW after being off the road. A pink slip is for ongoing registration, while a blue slip is for re-establishing registration from scratch. Both must be performed by an authorised inspection station.
